Component Selection Reason (At the time of purchase)
CPU Intel Core i7-4790K Fastest Z97 processor available. X99 was a bit disappointing so I passed on it (and it was expensive).
CPU Cooler Swiftech H220 Purchased it when it was the only expandable all in one liquid cooler.
Thermal Compound Gelid Solutions GC-Extreme Laying around from building a client’s computer.
Motherbaord MSI Z97-GD65 Gaming Cheapest Z97 motherbaord with digital voltage regulation.
Memory Team Xtreme 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 2400 Cheapest DDR3 Ram that was more than the slowest ram available. It just seems weird to get the very lowest possible compared to the rest of the parts.
Storage SAMSUNG 840 EVO 250GB Emergency purchase from brick and mortar store after old SSD broke.
Video Card Sapphire Radeon R9 290X 4GB Tri-X I regret this one… I paid $500 and it dropped to just over $300 in like 2 months. I regret it so much I just want to replace it.
Case Corsair Air 540 Fits under my Lack side table easily (on its side).
Power Supply EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 Superflower leadex based power supply. You really can’t get much nicer than this
Optical Drive Some DVD Drive It was cheapest one when I bough it, no idea on model.
Operating System Microsoft Windows 8.1 – 64-bit Windows 8 REALLY isn’t that bad, I promise.
Monitor Asus VN248H-P Cheapest 24 inch, 1080p, IPS, VESA monitor.

Mouse Logitech G700s Warranty replacement for my G700. Has lots of buttons and can be wired or wireless depending on situation.
